Statement

At the crossroads between drawing and intervention in public space, Anaïs Edely's work calls upon the power of attraction of mental images revolving around the body and the nude: thoughts, fantasies and dreams and how these animate and condition us. The research in real-time she is sharing within the collective les actionnaires consists to singularly revisit one’s daily lives and social representation around it. To Edely, the collective compositions happily thrive the friction of meeting individual artistic approaches; it enables the members and the public to experience their interpretations and reinterpretations of mooves and poses on one hand and strikes its boundaries on the other hand.

Bio

Graduated from the École Supérieure des Arts et Industries Graphiques (ESAIG) in Paris, and the Münster Fachhochschule für Design (MSD) in Germany, Anaïs Edely is a French-German visual artist based in Berlin. Edely has presented her work in solo and duo exhibitions in Europe, amongst others at Guest Studio Daglicht, Eindhoven, the Netherlands, in 2015 and at Raum für drastische Maßnahmen, Berlin-Mitte communal gallery weisser elefant and Haus der Psychologie, Berlin, Germany in 2016 and 2020. Furthermore, she has partaken in national and international group exhibitions, at Belvedere 21., Museum of Contemporary Art Wien, Austria in 2017 and most recently at galerie n/a, Seoul, Korea in 2020. Beyond her solo work, Edely advises and supports the sculpture class of weißensee academy of art Berlin since the summer semester 2020. Her projects has been supported by the DAAD Academic Exchange Grant, London, the Goethe-Institut, Rotterdam and by the French Regional Department of Cultural Affairs, Hauts-de-France.
